Thought I should share my unpleasant experience in buying an item from a second-hand online blogshop.
Not too long ago, I stumbled upon this blogshop at the east of Malaysia which sells used items, such as clothes, shoes and bags. I caught my eye on a pink flowery backpack and instantly loved it a lot. Emailed the owner about its availability and voila! it's still available! It was only RM15 for a used multi-coloured hawaiian floral backpack so I thought it was a good buy.
So I made the payment and waited anxiously for the backpack to arrive. When finally it did, I opened up the package to find that ALL the zippers of the backpack UNUSABLE. No matter which way I pull them, the 'teeth' won't snap shut! Yes, you can imagine how disappointed and angry I was with the seller.
The seller could use a little tip: MENTION THE CONDITION OF YOUR ITEMS. At least let the buyers know. Then it's up to the buyers whether they still want to purchase it despite the mentioned conditions.
But in my case, it was quite complicated. When I called her countless times, she did not pick up. Which makes it more fishy. When I emailed her, she replied. She said that she was helping her friends sell their stuff, and that backpack belongs to her friend. She mentioned that she was totally angry with her friend not telling her about the zippers (apparently the friend wrapped the bag up and passed to her). She is still trying to get her friend to explain, who hasn't been answering her phone calls either.
Up till now, no explanation. And it's really fishy that I discovered the seller's medical certificate dated 3 years ago. Hmm.. so it's your friend's bag or your bag? So confusing.
Whatever the explanation, it doesn't really matter anymore because she denied me refund. I found it very unethical to mail a damaged item, as if she wants to clear out her room by selling rubbish. I'm sorry I had to put it that way because it seems like that to me. It gives me very bad impression on her, and her blogshop.
FROM FT :
so sorry but we should have made certain points clear right at the beginning. some of u readers may be clear of these stuff because u all have been reading the site from the very beginning. but for the "newbies", they probably don't know about it.
so here it is:
Price Comparisons.
well it may not be an appropriate 'name' to some. so, shall we change the title? we were thinking of changing it to "alternatives". just that.
and also, some readers may not know why prices differ so much. is it because the sellers just want to make a higher profit? or are there reasons behind it?
here goes : [have been widely discussed in the earlier stages of this blog]
prices may differ because :
1. some sellers wanna earn more, some sellers settle for less profits. some sellers just want to price their items lower than the popular blogs just to attract more customers.
2. sellers do get cheated by the suppliers. different suppliers charge differently.
3. some sellers hire models to model their clothings
4. some sellers do have an 'offline boutique'. offline boutiques are usually more expensive than online boutiques
5. occasionally, some sellers import their items from overseas, but they didn't know that their items can be bought locally at a much lower price.
6. some sellers MAY HAVE included COD charges & postage charges into their stated price.
[do email us at fashion.truth@gmail.com if we miss out any! ]
anyway,
for now...
the SITE IS UNDER 'CONSTRUCTION'. do bear with us for the time being. lol. not major construction, just wanna draft out a proper "header/intro" so new readers dont get the wrong idea.
sellers/buyers/readers, do email us and give us your feedback on what else we should add on this blog / this header-or-intro / anything to clarify. thank u very much
*wont be updating for the next 3 days. meanwhile, we urge readers to write in to us ya!
thanks!

[from FT : we dont usually post up request, but we kinda changed our mind about it. look at it from a different point of view, if readers/buyers want to find the same item but at a lower price (if any) and if we (FT) aren't able to help, why not post it up so that other buyers/readers can help? thank u!]

^^based on my "close observations", this is what i found --->>>
do take a look :
http://kisssssandtell.blogspot.com/2008/11/sheepy-kimono.html

i find it extremely awkward to see a kimono worn as an off shoulder.
as kiss and tell says, wearing these as an off shoulder gives a sexy look.
but it's very funny lor. my friends also agreed with me. it's just as if kiss and tell wants to show the versatility of kimono dresses. but wearing it as an offshoulder is not one of the ways a kimono is meant to be worn.
is it just me (and my friends), or it is really really awkward?
sorry k kiss and tell! dont mean to offend u all.

based on the comments left on the post written by Seller 16
i would like to say that we have gone through the same problem
this customer told us that she banked in the money via the deposit machine in Maybank
but we checked, and checked.... no money was deposited
so we asked her for the transaction slip, she said she threw it away
and after awhile, she did not get back to us anymore, no emails, no sms.
but what she said was really contradicting
she said that she deposited the money via deposit machines
do note that to deposit money into these machines, CASH is deposited.
meaning to say the person must have CASH to put it in the machine
but she said that the "amount was stated on her bank account "
some sort like that
we were really query about this matter. if it was deposited into the machines itself, no reason it should appear in her bank account since she did not use online bank transfer thus there should be no records about it.
this does happens at times. thus i hope that sellers do be careful
make sure payment is received before sending out the parcels
and i noted a seller once wrote in about sending the parcel out before receiving payment,
i would say that it's not wise to do so. yes, the customer may plead and plead with u
but do u know that person? do u think that person is trustworthy?
i say that everyone knows how to plead, but if we wanna make sure that we dont get cheated, we really have to be smart to know how to react in such situations
no doubt, u're kind and all. but it's just going to make u 'rugi'
and regarding the emails that were sent but not received by the customers, i think that happens sometimes. but there is another situation where i've seen, whereby buyers/potential buyers write in their comment/enquiry in the cbox and it was only replied after 4-5 days
that's not very nice to treat the buyer/reader/person
if sellers have a cbox, they need to be sure to check the cbox every now and then, to ensure that all enquiries are replied.
i'm also a buyer myself, and sometimes my enquiry were not replied after a few days
it gets me angry coz i look at it as though the person/seller does not want to do business with me and so on
it's not a good image to public
just my two cents ya

Hey Fashion Truth,
Just want to share my stories with everyone. =)
Blacklisting
No, I'm not going to list out my blacklisted customer here. =) In fact, I actually don't really believe in blacklisting. No doubt I've encountered with a few back out customer. Promised to pay and then go missing in action. But I don't have their name listed out in the site. One reason is because I don't think they'll be coming back to shop any more. Don't you think so?
Poslaju
Everyone knows that Poslaju is one of the best or most preferred way to mail out items. But sometimes, people do make mistake. Recently, I've mailed an item using Poslaju to my customer. Worst of all, she couldn't get it but the tracking number shows that it has been successfully delivered. So after calling and checking with Poslaju, finally we manage to track it and apparently it has been delivered to the neighbour, coincidently having the same name. =.=" I wonder if any of the sellers encounter this before.
Banking
Cash deposit machine sometimes do fail. There's once my customer told me that she'd bank in the money but I fail to get it. Unfortunately, she threw away the receipt. Called the bank and says sometimes the transaction may fail even the money has been deposited into the machine. If lets say my customer really did bank in the money, they'll somehow reconcile it latest by 7 working days.
To all buyers, especially when you're using cash deposit machine, never throw your receipt away as it's the only proof.
That's all for my long-winded stories.

dear FT,
most blogshops reply emails within 24 hours.
UNLESS they're extremely busy with their school work and all, but even so, they have the courtesy to write out an apologetic note telling everyone that emails / enquiries will take a longer time to reply
it really annoys me when i asked for a certain information or pictures from a blogshop and they take a long time to get back to me regarding the information. the worst part is, there was no notice that they'll be taking a long time to reply. it feels as if they purposely do not want to reply us because it's too troublesome or what not
and yes, i understand that sometimes one partner may not have the information required and must rely on the other partner, or one partner cannot take photos of the back part of the dress (which she is modelling) because the other partner is not free
but i highly suggest that all blogshop owners reply emails promptly
if they have difficulties retrieving the information required, PLEASE tell the potential buyer about it and do not leave them in the dark
for me i constantly checked my email for the past THREE days now and there's still no reply.
it's irritating and now i even have doubts on whether i want to continue buying from that blogshop

Dear Fashion Truth,
Am glad to find out about your blog. It give us an Opportunity to voice out what we 'Online Boutiques Owner' feels and also we get to listen to our Buyer's Opinion. I would like to share one experience I had with one of my buyers, and also give one Personal opinion that I have...
1st Experiece
- Our boutique was newly launched in July 2008 and we are very New to this market. Because we are new, we try to satisfy our customers as much as we can to build a Good Name for ourselves. (Eg- We do not charge Cod for many places in Klang Valley, and we try to accomodate to customer's delivery times).
- There was this customer who email us on 13 July, informing us that she is interested in buying one of our dresses. I can see that she really likes our dress, because she immediately wants to pay us but collect the dress much later from us since she is in Penang. She is a student that is studying in KL, but back in Penang because of Semester Break. We agreed to keep the dress for her till she comes back anytime.
- I appreciate her "FastNess" in transfering the cash into our Maybank account and I immediately reply her telling her to call us once she gets back so we can meet up with her to deliver the dress. She said Okay.
- I do not remember the exact date or time, but 1 or 2 months later she got back. She sms us informing me and my partner that she wants to meet up to collect the dress. We agreed and reply her, asking for date and time. She replied saying that she will confirm with us soon. And so, we waited for her mail & smses or calls, but nothing came during that time.
- Last week, we finally hear from her again but it's not is a good way. We have 2 handphones which are ON meant for this online business but there were NO calls from her. Instead she went to our Blog, and type into our Chatbox "hey!! i bought the ___________ in july.until now u guyz still havent send it over!i tried calling u,left a few voice msgs,sms..no reply! pls get back to me asap ya! text me or call me at _______________".
- Isn't it ridiculous to receive feedbacks like that from buyers wherby they were the one who just dissapear & appear as they want? The funny thing is that we only receive sms from her after she write these in our blogs, and there were no calls or emails from her.
- I can understand if she call, email and sms us, and there are No reply from us. But the truth is there were no News from her till she complaints in our Blog. Can you imagine ppl who is surfing our Blog and read this remarks, what kind of impression will it give others? Especially when we are not at fault.
- The dress was finally delivered to her on Sunday, and guess what? She was half an hour late. And yet we pass to her with a Smilling Face. If this is not good enough, than I am Speechless....
Personal Opinion
- Was looking thru the Price Comparison, and I just have something to say..
- I believe some boutiques are selling more expensive and some less is because of the different supplies that we meet. Not everyone will be lucky enough to get the same and cheap price supplier.
- We might have the same stocks, but the service and treatment that each of us have is Definitely Different.
- If everyone wants to sell cheaper than one another, or all fix at the same price, we do not even need to have so many online blogs right?
- There should be a mutual understanding between buyers and sellers to keep all our blogs going on...
Lastly, am sorry is there is anything in here that offend anyone. This mail is to share what we feel, and not to hold grudge against buyers & sellers.
Thanks all.....

Dear Fashion Truth,
My sister told you about you guys. And I'm very interested in your concept. Not by revealing others but more to helping Online Shoppers. We, from FukuShop just started our Online Store for few months now (late September). We love the concept of you guys giving us a chance to provide a Recommended Retail Price (RRP) to our customers.
For you know, we had encounter such complaint. More embarrassing, been revealed by a customer. Weeks back, we received a complaint that some of my stuff are quite expensive compared to others. We never felt insulted but we tried to view this as a chance to improve ourselves. We tried to provide good stuff at affordable price. And to help other shoppers and earn a few bucks while at it. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to deceived that we was making money. Honestly, we are trying to make a profit.
We hope you understand that we are trying to create a small business here. But we try as hard as we can to NOT gain so much profit until our customers ever felt cheated. As a consumer myself, I know there are variations of price although products sold are within the same design/pattern. But quality also must not be overlooked. And yes, we are talking about the same design.
We tried to be as professional as we can when handling our business. We hope you can view our sites and maybe list them?

from FT : just wanna let u all know that Zarfa Wardrobe did not send in any emails to us requesting to be reviewed.
we just came across their website through a buyer that did a price comparison on their items and we find that this cardigan is below the "online market price"
yes, it's a bit shorter than the usual ones, but the price, we think it's about RM10 lower than the normal ones.
here's one cardigan found in Attire's Attic

they're selling at RM34 for one piece.
so i guess it's safe to say that the one at Zarfa Wardrobe is a good buy!

hey dear fashion truth,
kindly get ur facts right before simply posting up price comparison.
that pink heels mezzanine is selling is so totally NOT the glamourous heels i am selling.
if you notice, the sole is not made out of satin, and the design is totally different!!
how can you just blindly simply posting up heels that are entirely different?!!
gosh.
please be a little more ethical will you?
besides, the 4 inches heels are of different colour, whats the point of the price comparison anyways?
i thought you people only compare items of same design and colour...
kindly remove that mezannine heels as its so totally different. its not even the same height, same quality & design.
thank you.

since we're not too free to slowly go and compare the details and all that, and we definitely do not have the time to go and ask the sellers personally how much is their cost price (to prove that their items are more expensive)...........
so
TADAAAAAHH!!
new section :
Possible substitutes 1 :

hey dear fashion truth,
kindly get ur facts right before simply posting up price comparison.
that pink heels mezzanine is selling is so totally NOT the glamourous heels i am selling.
if you notice, the sole is not made out of satin, and the design is totally different!!
how can you just blindly simply posting up heels that are entirely different?!!
gosh.
please be a little more ethical will you?
besides, the 4 inches heels are of different colour, whats the point of the price comparison anyways?
i thought you people only compare items of same design and colour...
kindly remove that mezannine heels as its so totally different. its not even the same height, same quality & design.
thank you.

it's not entirely the same, do take note
(the colour and material)
also, please take note of the date these two items were posted up
but it seems like both of these sandals have the same brand
same shop, i supposed?

Hi FT,
I would like to express my concern with Shop Blog Ads via Email.
To be tactfully blunt, short and direct;
It is very annoying.
I used to get 1-2 in the past, so I just let it go.
But now it gets worse.
I am getting 10-15 different ads a day.
And some customers who request to get listed out of the list reply via "reply all".
Which you should not do, because other recipients will receive that email as well.
If you want to reply, please just click "reply" and not "reply all".
And I doubt that even if you reply, those Shop Blogs will cease their spam ads.
Sellers, please just set up a subscription link.
It is really annoying and very unethical to just copy paste and steal people's email and ad your blog.
My main email account is getting ads.
Despite how lucrative you have your deals at (Unless its priced at RM1 for a damm nice apparel, which I doubt so) or how nice the items are;
I am not going to give any services to sellers who do not have any piece in mind to think about how the buyers feel when you copy paste, take my email and continue to email me about your blog.
Just think if of these way. sellers.
You give your handphone no to one company, and other people got hold their hands of it, and sms you ads, and another person finds out and sends you more ads and the chain of reaction continues.
You won't get annoyed?
Please, give some respect.
I am trying to be nice.
I do apologize if it does not appear that way.
Trying to be direct about this issue.
Comments such as - Change your email or etc, is just plain selfish.
It will be ignored.
Regards, Simple.

hey fashion truth..
i found out today that another blogshop is using my pictures to sell her clothes.. i think its not right and unethical to do so n i feel i should bring up this matter..i sold my piece really long ago but this girl has 2 piece of the same item but i only have 1 piece..why cant she just model it herself ? i dont mind as she uses the pictures as long as she credits us or even ASK for permission first or even take the effort to crop out our website at the bottom of the pic =S this should not be happening amongst blogshops.. here is the link to our item:
